Studies have shown that wet or soaked food leaves the dog’s stomach in less than 30 minutes. If you are planning a long trip or preparing for a race, the quicker the food is processed out of the stomach, the better the results will be for your husky’s performance or journey.
Dehydration is a reason why you should feed your husky wet dog food. Dehydration is a big issue for working dogs. Wet dog food can aid in putting additional water into their systems. If you choose to feed wet food, make sure it is eaten right away…if it sets for a while; it absorbs the moisture, swells and become soft. This mushy food will stick to your dog’s teeth and lead to eventual dental problems.
It is not recommended to “free feed” your Siberian husky as you will be teaching him to be a picky eater. You want him to chow down the moment you put food in front of him. If your husky refuses to eat, (assuming he is normally a good eater)…then you know something is wrong with him.
