Up-keep
The first key to easy curb appeal is to keep up with regular maintenance. Luckily, yard work is the type of job that is less difficult if you make the time to do it often. Set aside a Saturday every two weeks or so to mow the lawn and weed the flowerbeds. If you really don’t relish the thought, it’s easy enough to find a neighborhood teenager who will happily do the work for a few bucks – especially in the summer months. Power wash your siding, window sills and porch eaves twice a year, at the beginning and end of the season. Use a power nozzle to spray away dirt and cobwebs when you water. Always keep your tools and supplies organized. Putting everything back where it belongs takes only a few minutes but will save you an hour of head scratching the next time you need it.

Colorful and Cleanliness
Many of us have the tendency to go down to the garden center and pick out whatever catches our eye. This can lead to a hodge-podge look that lacks a unifying principle. Take a few experimental trips to the nursery with planning in mind. If there’s something you really love, use it as an anchor plant and then pick complimentary plants to fill in the blanks. Or choose a theme. A variety of blooming roses blended with fragrant jasmine and lavender can create a romantic, English garden look. Bougainville’s climbing a fence combined with dwarf citrus trees and bright lilies or a grouping of palm trees and hibiscus fashion a tropical feel. In high drought areas, you might consider a variety of succulents and cacti to craft a striking and low-maintenance desert oasis. If you’re not a fan of gardening, don’t despair. You can always fill the flowerbeds with a fast-growing blooming groundcover and buy a few potted trees or color bowls to add interest or color.brænde
