Rabbinic Education and Scholarship

Rabbi Labkowski’s Hebrew name is Menachem Mendel Labkowski, given in connection with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The Rebbe was renowned for his deep love of Torah learning, dedication to Jewish education, and commitment to reaching every Jew with warmth, compassion, and inspiration. These values continue to guide Rabbi Labkowski’s mission of Torah learning, outreach, and community service.

From a young age, Rabbi Mendy Labkowski was drawn to Torah learning, which became the foundation of his lifelong mission. He received his Rabbinical Ordination in 2018 from the Central Chabad Yeshiva, Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in the United States, under the leadership of its Dean (Rosh Yeshiva), Rabbi Shneur Zalman Labkowski. He also earned advanced rabbinic degrees equivalent to bachelor’s and master’s level studies, grounding him in both traditional Torah scholarship and practical rabbinic leadership.

Rabbi Labkowski later received Judicial Ordinations from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, a member of the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Israel, and Rabbi Dovid Schochet, President of the Toronto Rabbinical Council and a member of the Central Committee of Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbis. These ordinations qualified him to serve as a Dayan (Jewish judge), reflecting advanced training in Jewish law and rabbinic decision-making.

Chaplaincy and Pastoral Leadership

Beyond his formal rabbinic education, Rabbi Labkowski has devoted himself to serving people through chaplaincy and pastoral care. Since 2016, he has served as a chaplain at Kaleida Health, providing spiritual guidance, emotional support, grief counseling, and end-of-life care to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Rabbi Labkowski has supported the Buffalo community during times of crisis, providing comfort, guidance, and trauma support following tragedies affecting the region. His commitment to pastoral care reflects his belief that a rabbi’s responsibility extends beyond teaching Torah—it includes being present for people during their greatest moments of need.

In 2026, Rabbi Labkowski was appointed as a Chaplain with the Buffalo Police Department, expanding his longstanding commitment to public service. In this role, he provides spiritual care, crisis response, grief support, and guidance to law enforcement officers, civilian personnel, their families, and members of the public affected by tragedy and critical incidents.
