Sukkot In Buffalo Under The Stars at Chabad

Experience the joy of Sukkot in Buffalo at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life. This beautiful holiday invites us to step into the Sukkah, enjoy delicious holiday meals, and connect with the timeless traditions of our people. Whether you’ve celebrated many times before or this will be your first Sukkot, you’ll feel right at home in our welcoming community.

What is Sukkot?

Sukkot, also known as the Festival of Booths, is a joyful holiday that follows Yom Kippur. For seven days, Jews around the world eat, celebrate, and sometimes even sleep in a Sukkah — a temporary hut covered with branches that reminds us of the shelters used by our ancestors during the Exodus from Egypt. The Sukkah is both simple and profound: it teaches us humility, trust in G-d, and appreciation for the blessings we enjoy.

Another central mitzvah of Sukkot is the Four Kinds — the lulav (palm branch), etrog (citron), hadassim (myrtle branches), and aravot (willow branches). We bring them together and make a special blessing, symbolizing Jewish unity and the beauty of diversity within our community.
